Under the Sea

Mom and I visited the Long Beach Aquarium. I had a nice time spending time with my mom. I always enjoy that.
The Aquarium was pretty busy, but we seemed to cover the place head to toe. Here are some pictures from our underwater adventure.

To celebrate my parent's anniversary we decided to take them to Bubba Gumps for dinner and to give them a digital camera. Eric picked a wonderful camera for them. It's thin, small, and can take very clear pictures. I am sure that they will get good use out of it.
I love my parents very much and I look forward to celebrating more anniversaries to come.

Femmoto

I was lucky to be able to go to Femmoto again this year. It's a place where motorcycle manufactures provide motorcycles for women to test ride. This test ride takes place on the outer track at Las Vegas Speedway. It's a one of a kind test ride opportunity and it happens to be for women only. I had an outstanding time. Here is the link to my report of the weekend. Oh how I love to ride bikes. All shapes and sizes, street, supermoto and a little bit of dirt riding.
The smell of 2-stroke in the air and the sounds of the motors brings a smile to my face.

What happed to the County Fair?

Miles and I recently went to the County Fair. Visions of animals, home baked goodies; hand crafted items danced in my head. Miles is not big on the fair, but being the wonderful supportive husband that he is, he went anyways. I should have known what kind of day it was going to be when we had to wait twenty minutes to buy the tickets. We plowed our way through the insane game area to make our way to see the animals. It was nice, but it did not see like there were that many. They needed a better variety.
After asking for help from the information stand we found the hand crafted quilts, home baked goods, the table settings, and some ceramic artwork. They were all in the same building area that is housed under the grand stand to the racetrack. It was nothing like it used to be. The rest of the entire fair ground is now a big swap meet. It slices it dices. It will get wine out of carpet. This spa is the one for you. I was so disappointed. The quality of the people is not like it used to be either.
Society today has lost all its creativity. No one knows how to make fresh baked bread, or how to sew anything. What happed to art? Paints, pictures, and all the other mediums? I guess people are just into shopping. I don’t think that many families even cook at home anymore. I don’t think I will be going to that fair anytime soon.
I would write more but I have a quilt to finish and feel the need to bake bread.

Toyota 200

I had the great pleasure of being the pit crew for my good friend Armen. He is an amazing rider and racer. He races with WSMC at the track called Willow Springs. Once a year Willow Springs AKA "the fastest track in the west" holds the Toyota 200. This race is a crazy race. It's 200 miles that is equal to 80 laps of the track. This track is not one to be taken lightly. The riders go well over 100 MPH. And when I say "well over", I mean it.
Armen is one of the few that qualified for this race. They only allow 40 riders to take part of this race. Some racers are pro riders so you can imagen how fast you have to be to race in this race. Most races are 6 laps; this is 80 laps of exhaustion. That means 3 sets of tires and 3 tanks of gas total. Motorcycles are not made to change tires fast. Nor are they made to fill with gas quickly. Armen spared no expense in giving himself any advantage he could. He was even able to get a gas tank and quick gas filler from the pros. One of a kind things.
Miles and I along with other Turn2 friends/riders were the weekend pit crew. We had amazingly fast pit stops for normal people and with only a few practices the day before the race.
Here are the pictures of the race. Please check out the links with the video clips. It shows everyone in action. Armen came in 20th out of 40 riders. He did all that with a broken hand. He had a crashed a few months before in a race and broke his hand. It did not heal and was causing him major pain. His hand was a big puffball at the end of the race. How he did the race at all is beyond me. Like I said, he is an amazing rider. Congrats to Armen! It was a wonderful experience and I had a blast.

All Girl Ride

Each year I host an all women sport bike ride to remember my fallen friend Kelley Maylor. The ride is for charity and this year was breast cancer. With the help of my riding buddy's of Turn2sportbikes that help me with the ride, this year was huge. The show Super Bikes heard about my ride and wanted to join in. What an unexpected surprise. I was asked to do an interview that I said yes of course, but left me with a sleepless night. I was so stressed about that. I ended up doing a pre and post interview about the ride. The show aired and it was pretty good. Now it seems that I get recognized here and there in the bike community. Miles and I went to a vintage bike show and swap meet. Some guy walks up to me and said," I saw you on TV. Super Bikes." I smiled and said, "Oh, yes." It was weird. The producer of the show said that they have about 10 million viewers.
The ride went well and I had a great time. Miles is in charge of the sweeper truck incase someone has a problem. He is also the prize man. He is the one that holds up the prizes and gets the women scream for him to call out their numbers. It's pretty cute watching him do his thing.

Two Became One

On July 29th, 2006 Miles and I tied the knot. It was the happiest day of our lives. We were married at the Glendora Country Club. The wedding was a small family wedding that was simple but elegant. The colors were sunset colors and the theme was butterflies. It was the making of a wonderful day.
The night before the wedding Miles and I stayed the night apart from each other. I then had to hide out that morning as the guest arrived and as Miles was setting things up. He dashed off to get ready and it was nearly time to start.
My father and I held arms as he walked me up a winding staircase to the ceremony. I did not even make it in the room when I saw Miles standing at the end of the isle. Miles looked incredibly handsome is his tux. He started to cry. That made me start to tear up. He looked wonderful. When my eyes met his, I knew that he was the person I had been waiting for all my life. I could not help but smile the whole time. Miles and I just kept looking at each other during the ceremony. We shared whispers of," I love you." "You look beautiful." "You look handsome." And I few more," I love you.". The ceremony went great and it was time for pictures and then the reception. The rest of the day flew by. Good food, good conversations, and lots of hugs and kisses with my new husband. It was wonderful.

Off to the Honeymoon!

The following day Miles and I headed to Maui. I had never been to the islands before. I was amazing. The hotel was top notch. Waterfalls, flamingos, koi fish, and flowers awaited us as we checked into the hotel. I fell in love with the feel of the island. We had some excursions planned for the trip. One was to take a boat trip on Trilogy to snorkel and tour Lanai.
Miles knew I wanted to see sea turtles so we planned another snorkel trip to Molokini to see more fish and then to Turtle Rock to see the sea turtles. I saw 4 turtles. It was wonderful! I was smiling from ear to ear.
Lastly we did the bike ride. We got up at 1:45AM to drive out to be at the bike shop at 3AM. Then an hour drive up to the top of Haleakala to watch the sun ride. We then had to ride down the volcano to the bike shop. We stopped at a restaurant to enjoy the view of up country Maui as we ate breakfast. We made it back to the bike shop at 9AM. Not to bad. That left us with time to drive around Maui. We stopped at a winery to enjoy a few of their wines and to look around. We also did part of the road to Hana. We covered the island in our little jeep. It was wonderful. We saw so many beautiful things.
To sum it up, we laughed and smiled. We slept in and got up at the crack of dawn. We went all over the island, and did not leave the hotel. It was a very romantic, relaxing, and the best vacation I have ever had. Best of all, it was with my wonderful new husband that I love more than anything. I cant wait to go back.
