It was a weekend of family fun. Miles, Loren, and I have been snowboarding before. Mike has skied before, but it’s been a while. Quintin and Lucinda were new to all this snow stuff. Lucinda was on skis and Q was on his new snowboard. We started off with the bunny slop where Lucinda did well as she made her way down the slope. Quintin was struggling a bit more and took his fill of falls on the icy snow. Slowly he was beginning to figure it out and was getting better each run. On Lucinda’s second run there was a miscalculation on the option of runs to go down. It seems that there were no beginner runs off the lift we had just taken. Poor Lucinda was stuck trying to go down a steeper (intermediate) slope than she was ready to go down. Quintin made it down the run by plowing. This is not as easy to do on skis. After the point of trying and then frustration, it was decided that Lucinda would walk down the run. (Now you know why there are bars at the end of the runs.) I boarded down carrying her skis as Miles walked up the slope to giver her a hug for support. Both our beginners were such troopers. They both gave it another try after lunch. Way to go!
The next day Lucinda decided to rest from her day of skiing. We once again hit the bunny slope where a much-improved Quintin was making his way down. The slope was slushy the day before so in turn it was ice in the morning. Near the bottom of the run Quintin fell. He said his wrist hurt. We knew his left wrist was sore from the day before, but now his right one hurt. Lucinda took him to the hospital to get it looked at as the rest of us had some great runs. It was fun to stay as a group and watch as Mike, and Loren went down the slopes. Miles does his traditional dive bomb down the slopes. You don’t get to watch Miles much; he is gone in a blink of an eye. Later in the day we got the call that Quintin had broken his right wrist and sprained his left. Oh my gosh, poor guy. We were all glad to hear that it did not dampen his spirits for the sport.
I had a wonderful time with everyone. It was fun to see everyone having fun in the snow.
