Happy 4th

Miles, Eric and myself spent the holiday weekend at the cabin in Bass Lake. We left late on Thursday to have a full day to celebrate the 4th on Wednesday and stay until Sunday. It was not the smoothest trip we have ever had. It started off with trying to load the truck with a queen mattress set in the bed of the truck, no pun intended. Then to tie two mountain bikes on top. Hook up the Waverunner on the back with a fold out mattress type thing. Now add all the peoples luggage, the driver see with Miles, passenger seat with myself, and Eric in the small part of the back seat. The luggage was in the cab on the floor, topped with a blanket and two dogs.We arrived at the cabin just after midnight. As we pull up we find someone has parked in the driveway. With the Waverunner attached we can’t park in the street parking spot. After a few grumpy words we see we can park the Waverunner next to the people that are in the driveway and park the truck on the street. Humm, where is the key to the trailer? So now Miles has to take the hitch off his truck. Finally we got it all worked out and everything unloaded and went to bed.Miles and I woke up early to set up the new frame and mattress set in the front room, after sleeping in the living room the first night. Just after we start to put together the frame there is a crash/sliding noise outside. Right away we knew what it was. A boat and trailer came off the ball of a truck and went sliding down the road just in front of the cabin. It ended up about 1 foot from the neighbors truck, 3 feet from our fence, and into the front of a nice new SUV that was coming the other way. We directed traffic for a while, they moved the boat and back to work we went. That same day we all tried to go down to the dock. The lack of shade and the 100 degree heat kept us from staying more than a few minutes. We came back to the dock, after the sun went down, for the firework show. It was nice as always. The next few days were great at the dock. Floating and taking the Waverunner out was just about all we did. Thank goodness for the lake. It was really hot. Pretty much high 90’s and low 100’s all week and weekend for us. It was nice to cool off in the water. That was just about all we could do for relief. Eric and Miles went mountain biking. I jogged a little, and the dogs went for walks. We had nice dinners on a small TV tray type table to avoid the heat of the cabin. The new deck is very nice and makes you want to sit around there all morning and night.I had a nice time as I always enjoy the best place on earth. I love the smell of the water, the pine in the air and the sound of the waves on the hull of the Waverunner. Oh and of course, the ducks. They are so cute on the water as they swim by. On our way!
That was a nice face to look at for 5 hours.
