That's why they call it Sand Canyon

The gang.
Mike and I

Mike and I

Radner Speed

Not a fan of water on the road.

Sand is not my friend.

Since there was talk about people in the SoCal area wanting to ride their supermotos together sometime, I thought I would organize a ride. It’s not for another 2 weeks, but some riders wanted to check out the ride rout today. So Mike and I met the rest of the group and off we went. I was glad that we were told the road was dirty and there was water flowing across the road at a water crossing. I hate water crossings. I have been through a few that had made me say a prayer before crossing on my sportbike. I was glad to see that the road was only bad in some places and that the water was not too deep. I must say that on the way back home the sad on the roads was stressing me out. I could feel the bike slip here and there. Not a feeling I like.
On the first half of the ride Mike was moving along at Radner pace in a higher speed area. I noticed smoke coming out of his motor and I could smell oil. I was going as fast as my bike would go to catch him and tell him what was going on. I was honking, waving, pointing; I even had my blinker on. Anything to get him to pull over. I just did not have enough speed, I was topped out. Two other guys go pass me and they try to get him to pull over. They finally get him to stop and he said he knows and they all take off. He thought they were telling him is coolant was dripping. Nope, He dun found Errrrlllll. (That’s “he struck oil” for the ones that did not get my joke.) We pull in to the restaurant a few miles from this whole debacle and I tell him it’s oil. His bike was covered. It was a mess. He ended up getting a ride home. That left me without my riding buddy. I turned to another rider that was very nice and was my speed if not faster and asked if he could be my buddy. Told him where my cell phone was in case I crashed. I always like to cover my bases. He was more than happy to help out and in turn told me where his phone was as well.
End of the day we had sand all over Sand Canyon/Little T. We had to cross water. Mikes bike died, and a rider lost his license plate.
One of the rides you come home from, and say,” I love my couch”.

Here is a video some else took.
A guy who went on the ride with us Sun when today, Sat, for another ride. He got some guy on his "just left the dealer" new bike and high sided it on video. That man must be kicking himself. Can you belive he just picked that thing up and it's trashed now. Poor bike. Here is the video.

New video that I found of our ride by another rider. ( you can see me in this one. Watch at 9:20 what some clown does.)

Random thoughts

I never have an idle mind. I find myself always jumping from one thought to another nonstop. The thoughts may be connected or totally random. I am sure this restless mind was part of my struggle in school.
Driving seems to amplify this wonderful quality. Traffic or a long open road gets me thinking. If I am the passenger, look out, I will talk about who knows what and lots of it.
Many times this random thought turns into to a blog post. Today’s traffic courtesy of Los Angeles drivers brings you this quick random thought about nothing.

Things I like but don’t have very often or almost never.

1. Jello (it’s good, why don’t I make this stuff?)
2. Pudding ( same as above)
3. Toast
4. Fun Dip candy (That’s a blast from the past)
5. Lemonade
6. See’s candy (for the most part, can’t eat too much chocolate)
7. Fresh cherries (Why don’t I buy them?)
8. Watermelon. ( I end up having to eat a whole one myself and it goes to waste so I don’t buy it like I want)
9. Raisin bread
10. A doughnut with coconut on it
11. Chips and salsa at home (once I start, I can’t stop)
12. String cheese

I am sure there are more things, but that’s what’s on my mind right now. Now onto some other thoughts like motorcycles, racing, making cookies, and work I need to do on a quilt.

Dog gone it

I have to say that I love my dog. Some people treat dogs like dogs and others treat them like people. I am the latter of the two. How can you not get the best feeling when you come home to something so happy to see you? Your other half is not even that happy to see you. lol You can leave for 5 minutes and they are as happy to see you come back as if you were gone all day. Then when you go on a trip and come home after a few days; you would think that the dog was about to explode with excitement. They are there for you when you are happy and want to play. They are there for you when you are sad. They are man’s best friend.

Now why would we go and do a thing like this to something that loves us so much? As noted on the place I got these pictures…..

This is why dogs bite people

Have a wonderful day. I hope you smiled looking at these pictures.

The Teacher

The last few weeks we I have been teaching tumbling skills. We got rained out all week last week so I decided to review and give our skills test today. Here is a glimpse into my day.
The 6th grades just love this unit. Everyone likes it, but the 6th graders can’t wait to tumble each day. They were sad it was over today.

I can’t believe I am sharing what I do in the classroom. Since no one I know ever gets to see me teach, I have come to feel that it’s “my thing”. It’s something I do alone. It’s funny to think that all my loved ones never get to see me in teacher mode. It’s this giant part of me that I do every day that no one sees.
Then again, I am just glad that I got my parents out to Femmoto the last few years to see me ride. I love riding so much and they had not seen me do something I think I do pretty well. I am so glad they got to see that. Now everyone can see me teach a little. Now I am getting embarrassed about anyone watching me teach. Oh well. Enjoy the video. Lol

Here is a video of me teaching today.

Supercross

Lori and I.

The other day I had put out a message on Facebook that I wanted to go to the Supercross event that was going on in Anaheim. I had a few offer of tickets but ended up not going.
This time around I got a message from a friend who’s husband works for Kawasaki saying she got Miles and I tickets for the second round at Anaheim. I did not ask for them for this round, but that was very nice of her.

I did not really want to go to the event due to rain, cold and other reasons. I did not know until the last minute that they were not just some free tickets, but she told her husband to buy them and that they were prepaid. She was going to be out $80.00 for the tickets she got. I wish she would have told me she was buying them. I was super bummed. Oh well.

I have only been to one dirt event and that was this same event a few years ago. I like watching it, but since I don’t know much of what’s going on, who is a good rider and so on it makes it hard. I like the technical part of racing. When I watch street bikes race, I know what they are doing out there. I can see where they might want to make a pass. Dirt I am totally lost on. I don’t know how to jump so I am not sure of what I am watching. Was that good? What that bad? Did he go too wide? I don’t know.

Over all I had an ok time. The person that got the tickets talked my ear off about random stuff. She was even nice enough to have her iphone there and she showed me all her pictures of her grandkids, bikes, dog,………. (Lisa rolls eyes) She is so hyper and random, I had a hard time watching the races. I was glad that I brought warm clothes. It got pretty cold watching the races. Gloves, hats, blankets were the norm for the night.
I will chalk this one up to “I had to go. I will make the best of it”.

I must say that after seeing how amazing the riders are, I really want to feel what it’s like to make a big jump. That feeling of being in the air must be so cool. I like being in the air. I hurdled and did the high jump. Moving your body in open space is pretty cool. Dirt now looks a lot more fun to me.

Bird Brain

One day I was at my parent’s house when my dad walked in with a little pigeon. It was a baby that was dying because the parents stopped taking care of it. It was sooooooo cold. I held the little bird for a long time trying to warm it. We then put it in a clay pot as its nest. We had to think of a name and I of course thought of Potsie. Potsie went from almost dead to a healthy bird after time. It was nice to help save a life. I just love animals.
What we did not know at the time was Potise was the start of something bigger. It seemed that as time has gone by these last few years, my parents have been finding more birds that need to be saved. My mom has turned into a mother hen now. They have had a few birds that they have had to take care of and have saved. The best part is the names they have given them.
1. Potsie (I came up with that one)
2. Popsicle ( It was very cold to the touch and not moving)
3. Mr. Peepers (It would peep every time they would walk by its bowl/cage)
4. Peeperino (Another peeping bird)
5. Lucy (It was a red/dark rust colored bird)
Now they have two at the same time that they are taking care of. They are now called….
6. Frick and Frack
There was a lot of “squawking” going on over the birds. I am glad that they could “flock” together as a couple and save the birds. I don’t know if they knew “feather” or not the birds would live, but they all did. I know it was a “Bird’en” on them, but it was worth it. Awwwww I see my puns have “Beak’ed” your interest. Thank you for putting up with my jokes. I hope they did not leave a “fowl” taste at the end of this blog. I guess after being “cooped” up inside after all this rain, I am a little off.

XOXOXOX

Anger management

Don't you wish you could do this just once in your life???

Anger Management

When you occasionally have a really bad day,
and you just need to take it out on someone,
don't take it out on someone you know,
take it out on someone you don't know,
but you know deserves it.

I was sitting at my desk when I remembered
a phone call I'd forgotten to make.

I found the number and dialed it.

A man answered, saying 'Hello.'

I politely said, 'This is Chris.
Could I please speak with Robyn Carter?'

Suddenly a manic voice yelled out in my ear
'Get the right f***ing number!'
And the phone was slammed down on me.

I couldn't believe that anyone could be so rude.

When I tracked down Robyn's correct number
to call her, I found that I had accidentally transposed
the last two digits.

After hanging up with her,
I decided to call the 'wrong' number again.

When the same guy answered the phone, I yelled
'You're an asshole!' And hung up.

I wrote his number down
with the word 'asshole' next to it,
And put it in my desk drawer.

Every couple of weeks,
when I was paying bills or had a really bad day,
I'd call him up and yell,
'You're an asshole!'

It always cheered me up.

When Caller ID was introduced,
I thought my theraputic 'asshole'
calling would have to stop.

So, I called his number and said,
'Hi, this is John Smith from the telephone company.
I'm calling to see if you're familiar with our
Caller ID Program?'

He yelled
'NO!'
And slammed down the phone.

I quickly called him back and said,
'That's because you're an asshole!'
And hung up.

One day I was at the store,
getting ready to pull into a parking spot.

Some guy in a black BMW
cut me off and pulled into the spot
I had patiently waited for.

I hit the horn and yelled
that I'd been waiting for that spot,
but the idiot ignored me.

I noticed a 'For Sale ' sign in his back window,
so I wrote down his number.

A couple of days later,
right after calling the first asshole
(I had his number on speed dial)
I thought that I'd better call the BMW asshole, too.

I said, 'Is this the man with the black BMW for sale?'
He said, 'Yes, it is.'

I then asked,
'Can you tell me where I can see it?'

He said, 'Yes, I live at 34 Oaktree Blvd. , in Fairfax
It's a yellow ranch style house
And the car's parked right out in front.'

I asked, 'What's your name?'

He said, 'My name is Don Hansen.'

I asked, 'When's a good time to catch you, Don?'

He said, 'I'm home every evening after five.'

I said, 'Listen, Don, can I tell you something?'

He said, 'Yes?'

I said, 'Don, you're an asshole!'

Then I hung up, and added his number to my speed dial, too.

Now, when I had a problem, I had two assholes to call.

Then I came up with an idea...

I called asshole #1.

He said, 'Hello'

I said, 'You're an asshole!'
(But I didn't hang up.)

He asked, 'Are you still there?'

I said, 'Yeah!'

He screamed, 'Stop calling me'

I said, 'Make me.'

He asked, 'Who are you?'

I said, 'My name is Don Hansen.'

He said, 'Yeah? Where do you live?'

I said, 'Asshole, I live at 34 Oaktree Blvd. , in Fairfax ,
a yellow ranch style home and I have a black Beamer parked in front.'

He said, 'I'm coming over right now, Don.
And you had better start saying your prayers.'

I said, 'Yeah, like I'm really scared, asshole,'
and hung up.

Then I called Asshole #2.

He said, 'Hello?'

I said, 'Hello, asshole,'

He yelled, 'If I ever find out who you are...'

I said, 'You'll what?'

He exclaimed, 'I'll kick your ass'

I answered, 'Well, asshole, here's your chance.
I'm coming over right now.'

Then I hung up and immediately called the police,
saying that I was on my way over to 34 Oaktree Blvd , in Fairfax, to kill my gay lover.

Then I called Channel 7 News about the gang war going down in Oaktree Blvd in Fairfax

I quickly got into my car and headed over to Fairfax .

I got there just in time to watch two assholes
beating the crap out of each other
in front of six cop cars, an overhead news helicopter
and surrounded by a news crew.

NOW I feel much better.

Anger management really does work.

:-) Have a great day and I hope you find peace within yourself.

Weather or Not :-)

I have been asked...... yes, I took these pictures. :-)

Did you know I always check the weather? Yeppers, I do. I work outside and want to know what I will be dealing with. Half the time my day starts off cold then I end up hot. I think it really started when I lived in Missouri. I quickly learned that they don’t have sprinklers out there because it rains so much. I also learned that being from LA did not prepare me for the winters out there. I had on a sweatshirt and a light jacket when the track team got stuck in a blizzard on our way to a meet. I was of course freezing and I got weird looks and was asked why I did not have a coat on. I said I did not have one. I was able to apply for the needy student fund and got $200.00 for get winter clothes. Thank goodness since I did not have any money to get a nice jacket.

I love that my car can tell me what the weather is outside. This leads me to Yahoo weather or weather.com. I check them every morning. I also check throughout the day.

Here are the places that I check all the time. Just places I like and enjoy seeing what the weather is like there. Pretty amazing how different it can be.

Florence, Italy
Rome, Italy
Sonoma, CA
Glendora, CA
Santa Fe Springs, CA
Cape Girardeau, MO
Bass Lake, CA

I figured that since it has rained every day this week, the weather may be on your mind as well.
I love being home at night when it’s raining. Spending a nice night with a pot of soup or something really warm and filling is so nice. I also like a nice fire burning bright and crackling. I love how clean everything looks after it rains. I love the smell of the rain when it first starts. I like the feeling of being in my car with the water beating down on my car and I and warm and dry inside it. It makes me laugh when you have to make a mad dash from the car to a building. I love how the hillsides all turn green after the rain. I used to love driving to Mt SAC for school and going by the hills. They turn such a pretty color of green. Then to see some cows grazing in the grass. Not too many things are prettier than that. Oh and then to see the snow capped mountains as you go to work and back. Awwww wonderful.
I will leave you with that thought. Have a wonderful and dry weekend. Xoxoxo

Quilts, B-days, and Riding this weekend

It was that time again for the second largest quilt show in the nation. I am lucky that it is right in Ontario next to the airport at the Ontario convention center. People travel from all over to come to the show. Wonder if they get to munch on the In-N-Out burger that is one block over. It is a SoCal tradition (well, it’s spreading, but still a SoCal thing). Here are some pictures of the quilts. My camera battery was almost dead so I took what I could to give a feel of what the show has to offer.
After that it was off to celebrate my parents birthdays. My mom’s is on the 9th and my dad’s is on the 17th. My brother came up with the plans and off we went. We started off at the Norton Simon Museum. He was the only one that had been there before. It was very impressive. I always see it in the Rose Parade in the background. It has an amazing amount of artwork from very famous artist. I was surprised. Next came walking around Pasadena. After covering most of the popular areas of Pasadena we were on the hurt for dinner. It led us to Burger Continental. It’s a mix of so many kinds of food I would not know where to start. I think everyone had a good time. I hope my parents enjoyed a day out and about.
Today was a quick ride up GMR. I knew I had to get a ride in since it’s going to rain all week and the roads we ride on should be a mess for a few weeks after that. No riding for me for about a month I am guessing. It was nice to keep a slower pace today. We were all worried that there may be dirt on the roads. There always is on that ride. One of my friends has an HD camera and filmed us for a little bit.

Yes, that's a quilt. Amazing.

Now for the birthdays!!!

Here you can see my brother wonding if he could take her out to dinner.

Makes me want to have a burrito.

Standing next to this figure gives me a good self image.

My self image is shot with this one. Easy on the Slimfast!!

My Mom and Dad.

So this priest walks into a bar........

Venice

OMG how can this be art? I could almost smell the stench.

Oh look, he still has both ears.

I always enjoy statues over most anything else.

Happy Birthday Mom and Dad.
I love you.
Now for the ride links.

Ride Link 1 (wow, you can see me in the video. lol OHHH did you see the burnt out car at 4:36 minutes??)
At about 50 sec into the second video my font tire slips out on me. Cold tires. Took the wind out of my sails the rest of the ride.
